Mother's Day

"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take." - Cardinal Mermillod

Mother's Day is such a special time to acknowledge all those women who hold motherly qualities. Some never have children of their own but love students, nieces or nephews, and neighbors as their own. My two sisters always say they don't know how they could love their future children more than they love their niece. I remember feeling the same way about my two nieces and it's incredible how things change. I don't think you love your children more, I think you just love them differently. The same way most people struggle to see how they will love a second child as much as the first. Some how the heart just grows to fit all the love in.

I think we need to remember this more now than ever before. A lot is happening in our world right now and it can be frightening and stir up anxiety if we let it. We need to come together more now to acknowledge all the strong women around us. Whether it's a video call or sending a gift, please let those women in your life know how special they are. Mother's Day is a day we reflect on our motherly duties and judge ourselves for all the things we wish we would have changed or done differently. The only thing that matters is that we are doing our best. That can look very different from person to person, so lets agree to continue to lift one another up and stop tearing one another down.

I never understood how much I could love someone until had a child of my own. You quickly realize all the struggles and trials your parents had to go through for you and it makes you feel so blessed. I remember being so humbled by how difficult it was when I first had my daughter and I remember calling my mom (I'm sure about a million times) but this time it was to thank her for all that she did for me and my sisters.

So Mom, I just want to say thank you again for all you have done as a mother to me and my sisters. We could never thank you for all the unknowns but God knows. We are so blessed to have you in our lives.

SO if you are looking for something special to give the "mom" in your life this Mother's Day, here are a few things I recommend that are linked in my LiketoKnow. It page.
